Envínate does it AGAIN with this new Canary Island cuvée. It encapsulates all the delineated, finely etched, beautiful aromas we’ve come to expect from these four pioneering wine masterminds, but it's this wine's location that really sets it apart. Sourced from three small parcels situated further from the Atlantic and more inland than any of their other vineyards. This protected, inland locale is a touch warmer, in turn bestowing the wine with more generous fruit lushness than Envínate's other Canary cuvées.
I loved this wine in its debut 2020 vintage, but an extra year working this site shows, and this 2021 is so sensational, I bought it all.
I am proud to offer the only bottles of 2021 Envínate ‘La Santa de Úrsula’ in South Carolina! |

Mostly Listan Negro with a healthy portion of Negramoll and a touch of Listan Blanco (2%). All vines are own-rooted and over 100 years old, planted on basalt bedrock. Hand-harvested and fermented with some whole bunches in concrete for 18 days, the wine is then racked into used 228L French barrels where it rests for eight months before bottling.
Serious depth and intrigue on the nose. Opens with wild strawberry, grilled red plum, cherry, rose petal and a touch of white pepper. The generosity of the palate is where this wine shines, bringing juicy red fruits, crunchy saline minerals and elegant floral notes together seamlessly. As beautiful as it is unique.

I firmly believe that decades from now we will look back at the last ten years in wine and credit four friends, who met in winemaking school, with single-handedly changing the trajectory of Spanish wine.
Envínate is a quartet of Spanish friends and old schoolmates making world-changing, earth-shatteringly beautiful wines from forgotten, often abandoned vineyards throughout Spain. With the founding concept of celebrating coastal wines and indigenous varieties, Laura Ramos, Alfonso Torrente, José Martínez and Roberto Santana have advanced the formerly stagnant Spanish wine culture in ways never before seen. 'Their aim is to make profoundly pure and authentic wines that express the terruño of each parcel in a clear and concise manner.'
