100% Gamay from Fleurie's extraordinary Grille Midi where the vines receive plenty of sunshine and warmth in the amphitheater shaped vineyard. Brun selects only the finest grapes from the oldest vines for this cuvée, ensuring a deeply concentrated final wine. Manually harvested, de-stemmed and macerated for a long four weeks in concrete tanks, then racked into used oak barrels where it ages for 12 months before bottling.
A dense, effusive, almost flamboyant nose of black cherries, raspberry compote, English Breakfast tea, baking spices, anise and violets. There's plenty of structure and crunchy granitic minerals to balance the sumptuous palate.
