IN-DEPTH TASTING WITH BARBARESCO'S MATTEO GIORDANO Saturday, March 9th, 4:30PM
There's a youth movement happening in steadfastly traditional Piedmont. On a recent trip, I met a slew of next-generation winemakers that have taken the reigns at some of the most historic estates in the region. These young successors are injecting new ideas and fresh perspectives into these classic wines.
Matteo Giordano of the legendary Barbaresco estate Luigi Giordano, is one such winemaker. And it is with enormous gratitude and excitement that we welcome Matteo toMonarch for an intimate, seated, in-depth tasting on Saturday, March 9th at 4:30.
Matteo will be leading an extraordinary deep-dive into Barbaresco, featuring a detailed look into four of his finest Crus and including back vintages poured from magnum, direct from his cellar. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to taste and meet the winemaker responsible for these world renowned wines.
Seating is limited, please reserve your spot by purchasing a ticket today.

Azienda Agricola Luigi Giordano was founded by Giovanni Giordano in the 1930s, when Barbaresco was all but unknown. After a period of growing and selling grapes, Giovanni’s son Luigi made the bold decision to vinify and bottle his own grapes in 1958. He was one of the few visionary producers confident in the quality of his wine and potential of his terroir. He helped pave the way for Barbaresco's place on the word's fine wine map.
Today this historic estate is run by Luigi’s grandson Matteo. An ambitious winemaker who respectfully continues the winery’s elegant and staunchly traditional style, with long macerations on skins and maturation in large oak botti. Since joining in 2011, he has invested maximum time in the vineyard, and each year the wines gain greater definition, detail and elegance, better articulating their impressive sites.
