Newsletter: 2022 Agricola Tiberio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo

Our favorite rosé returns. Each spring we eagerly anticipate its release, and with the arrival of each vintage, we're struck by its stagnant and absurdly low price. How can a wine this delicious, this well made remain such a bargain? Honestly, we have no idea, but we're thrilled to continue to offer it to you. Year after year, this wine remains one of the best values in the shop.

A specialty of the Adriatic hugging Abruzzo, Cerasuolo literally translates to cherry red, a reference to this rosé's dazzling, electric pink hue. It's an Abruzzese specialty, and today's version from Tiberi is best in show. Forget the ubiquitous, pink water being churned out by the millions of gallons. This is a rosé with serious depth of flavor and elegance, but without losing that inherent, joyful juiciness only a bottle of cold pink wine can provide.

A wine that transitions from poolside sipping to table side BBQ with ease. Guaranteed to be your summer's go-to rosé, we recommend loading up today...it won't be offered at this price for the rest of the year.

100% Montepulciano planted on exposed limestone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September and fully de-stemmed before fermentation. Only free run juice is used, leading to a supremely pure and delicate final wine. Rests in stainless steel for one year prior to bottling and release.

Luscious and expressive: wild strawberry, watermelon and brambly red berries leap out of the glass followed by crushed violets and saline minerality. On the palate, more juicy red berry fruit is backed by tart, rhubarb acidity, pretty floral notes and a touch of pink peppercorn spice. Finishes crisp, clean and slightly salty. We wish all rosé could taste this good.
Azienda Agricola Tiberio began almost three decades ago when Riccardo Tiberio stumbled on a plot of 60-year-old Trebbiano Abruzzese vines for sale. So impressed by this small vineyard, he dropped everything, moved his family and became a winemaker. A decade later he handed the reins to his children Cristiana and Antonio.

Today, the siblings still own and farm Tiberio. Cristiana has a chemistry degree and handles winemaking, while Antonio is an agronomist who operates the farm. Cristiana says the secret to making great wine lies in their ties to the land. They're committed not just to Tiberio, but to all of Abruzzo and it's wines.
