There's rare, and then there's Robinot. Not seen on our shelves in over two years and three vintages, the wines have finally returned to Monarch.

In our typical fashion, instead of hiding them in the back of the store, we'd blurt to the world that they're here, and we've got them. To be blunt, Jean-Pierre Robinot is a legend in the Loire, and this is one of the most unique, terroir-reflective sparkling wines out there. It's a razor sharp, bracingly dry Chenin Blanc whose invigorating perlage and refreshing acidity almost defy its complexity and concentration of flavor. Simply put, there is no other bubbly like it.

While we're always on the hunt for winemakers of this caliber who have yet to be discovered, here's your chance to taste the work of a master, with a resume to back up his claim to fame. Better get it while you can.

Organically farmed Chenin Blanc grown on clay dominant soils with bits of flint. After a manual harvest, the grapes ferment in stainless steel to preserve freshness of fruit. During fermentation the wine is bottled and allowed to finish fermenting under cap, then left to age on its lees for more than a full year before release (unheard of for Pet-Nat). Unfined and unfiltered.

Full of life right out of the bottle. Opens up with a stunning mousse of fine, lively bubbles from the long aging in bottle, with layer after layer of fresh peach, white grapefruit, baked bread and marcona almonds. The palate is alive with vibrant citrus and racy Chenin acidity that floats on the refined and integrated bubbles. Flashy, fun and peerless.
Jean-Pierre Robinot has been obsessed with wine since 22, when a bottle of 1964 Cheval Blanc changed his life. He was lucky enough to meet Jules Chauvet and Marcel Lapierre in the 80s, and was inspired to open up his own wine bar named L'Ange Vin, the first of its kind in now wine bar obsessed Paris.

It was in 2001 that he decided to take the leap to winemaker and the rest is history. Robinot firmly believes in patience, and in his cellar you'll find every barrel at a different point in fermentation. Everything is bottled only when he deems it ready, sometimes taking 2-4 years to finish fermenting. Every wine is unfined, unfiltered and without any added SO2, always.
