Newsletter: Father's Day 3-Pack

We try not to discount all the good stuff here at Monarch. Though we've sent out plenty of emails about amazing bottles, there are some producers, some releases that we just can't bring ourselves to markdown. Yet for Father's Day this year, we've decided to offer up some of our most special bottles at an incredible price.

Two of these producers might be familiar to you, as they're shelf staples when we can get them: Giacomo Fenocchio is an old-guard Barolisti, committed to protecting the deep Piemontese tradition of world-class Barolo, and Domaine Pierre Guillemot, a producer with pedigree making stunning classics in Burgundy. Padelletti we haven't written about, but with roots going back to 1592, you don't have to be a Brunello fanatic to understand what makes these intimate, small-production wines so coveted.

Each of these producers represent the best of the best, uniquely defined paragons of their respective regions.

This is a remarkable offer, and a rarity even for Monarch, as we've only offered this many blue-chip wines in a single shot one other time. These are three jewels in a single crown, and an easy solution for what to give Dad (or yourself) this weekend.

Giacomo Fenocchio 'Bussia' Barolo 2019
$89.99

Going back five-generations, Giacomo Fenocchio is a domaine with deep Piedmont roots. This single vineyard wine comes from 5 hectares of vines averaging 35 years in age within Bussia, a Cru known for its iron rich calcium soils. A soil combination that balances the power of clay with limestone finesse. Über-traditional winemaking: grapes macerate in a submerged cap for 40 days in massive neutral oak barrles, then aged for 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks.

The 2019 is a showstopper, walking a razor thin line of firmness and delicacy, this ruby red wine opens with layered notes of crushed raspberries, cigar box, Ceylon cinnamon and rose petal. Full of bright red fruit on the palate followed by gentle spice and tarry notes. It carries serious structure through polished and refined tannins. Nebbiolo doesn't get much better than this.
Pierre Guillemot 'Les Jarrons' Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru 2022
$79.99

A native of Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pierre Guillemot is now headed by eighth generation winemaker Jean-Pierre Guillemot. 'Les Jarrons' is a classified Premier Cru, and a personal favorite of the family. This north-east facing site features clay soils with a touch of sand, which adds levity and precision. 40-year-old Pinot Noir vines are hand-harvested then fermented and aged in Burgundy barrels, 10% new, for 6 months. Once bottled it ages an additional 6 months before release.

A sensual and gracious nose of red and black cherry, plum, baking spices and a hint of woodsmoke. On the palate, the wine is deep and lavishly textural, fine-grained tannins are coated in ripe, sappy red fruit and spice. The stunning mineral tension from the sandy soils is expertly parried by a touch of new oak polish. Pure class.
Padelletti, Brunello di Montalcino 2018
$69.99

One of Montalcino's founding families, the Padelletti clan has never wavered from tradition. This Brunello comes from older vines planted on a 6-hectare plot outside the winery. The grapes are hand-harvested and ferment in concrete for a month before aging for two years in large, neutral oak barrels, followed by a year in bottle before release.

A wine in full bloom: ripe red fruit, allspice, sweet tobacco and rose candy jump out of the glass. The palate is like taking a bite out of a bowl of fresh red berries balanced by savory sandalwood, saline minerality and sumac spice. This is a stunning, definitive expression of Burnello.
