It is with great pride and gratitude to welcome Niki Saah to Monarch. Niki is the current generation winemaker at this 2000 year old Austrian estate, and has taken the reigns with gusto. He has shouldered this historic responsibility mightily, and is currently producing some of Austria's (and the world's) greatest wines.
Niki will be guiding us through a full range of his spectacular, intricate and world class wines, including a back vintages of his top Gruner Veltliners and dry Rieslings. This is an incredible and rare opportunity to experience just how remarkable (and frankly, underrated) these wines are.

Nikolaihof is one of the oldest wine estates in Austria, whose history goes back almost 2000 years to the Roman empire. Originally chosen by the Romans because it was considered a Celtic holy site prior to 800 B.C. Wine has been produced here since the reign of the Celts and continued throughout Roman times. Germanic monks obtained the estate during the collapse of Rome.
In 1894 the Saahs family acquired Nikolaihof and carried on the traditions the monks had established. Today, Nikolaihof still functions as an independent, bio-diverse farm, growing all kinds of herbs, fruits and flowers. The average age of the vines at the estate is 47 years old and the vineyards are farmed without herbicides, pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or synthetic sprays. Without a doubt, Nikoliahof is one of the most important wineries in the world.
