DROP-IN TASTING WITH DRAKE WHITCRAFT Wednesday, February 22nd, 5 - 7pm
I am THRILLED to welcome my friend and second-generation California winemaker Drake Whitcraft back to the shop next Wednesday evening for a comprehensive in-shop tasting. Drake will be on hand and pouring a stellar line-up featuring his bright Chardonnay, unrivaled Pinot, crunchy Syrah and more. This casual, walk-around tasting is FREE.
There are very few examples of successful, second-generation winemakers in North America. Drake Whitcraft has not only carried forth the standard set by his father Chris, but he has also envisioned new sites and varieties that continue the adventurous work his father started in 1985. The old-world tradition of a family winery, and the wisdom passed from father to son, is what has remained most compelling to me since I first tasted with Drake in Santa Barbara four years ago.
Much like the wines he crafts, Drake is humble, honest and persistent. His wines are some of the most thoughtful, balanced and downright beautiful wines being made in this country today. We hope you can join us next Wednesday for one of the most exciting events we'll host this year!
