Spicy! Savory! Beguiling! and often under-appreciated, Syrah is one of the world's most noble, and misunderstood grapes! Come discover this incredibly complex, terroir-transparent wine in all its glory. Our friend David McCarus, of his eponymous importing company, makes his return to the shop, fresh off a trip to the Northern Rhone. He'll be guiding us through several Rhone appellations (Cote Roite, Cornas, St. Joseph) as well as a Cali counterpart, that will be sure to demystify this complex, charming and utterly delicious grape. We'll be popping unicorn Chamberyon-Manin to boot!
We'll be comparing Cornas, Cote Rotie, St. Joseph and California from the following growers:
--Julien Cecillon, Staint Joseph 'Babylon' Rhone Valley, FR 2014
--Domaine Chambeyron-Manin, Cote Rotie 'Cote Brun' Rhone Valley, FR 2015
--Domaine Vincent Paris, Cornas 'Granit 30' Rhone Valley, FR 2016
--Enfield Wine Co, Syrah 'Yorkville Highlands' Mendocino County, CA 2015
