Is it white? Is it red? It's both!

All of a sudden it's HOT(!), which means we're heading straight to the chilled wine section to grab...what exactly!? These days, white wine is just a fraction of the options available in terms of chill-able bottles. You've heard most of this before: light reds, orange wines, light pink rosés, dark pink rosés – but have you heard of red AND white wines? Together? We don't really know what to call them, but we have been chilling and chugging them with abandon in this HEAT! 

This week, we're featuring bottles containing both red AND white grapes –for when you want something cooling and refreshing, but with a little more oomph and structure. 

Whether the grapes are co-fermented (made by fermenting multiple varieties in one vessel) or blended following separate fermentations, our colorful selection of these wines is just what you need for a little something different to quench your thirst this summer! 

Pablo Matallana ‘La Bardona’ Canary Islands, SP 2017 $36.99

An island wine made from Listán Negro, Listán Blanco and Negramoll grown on volcanic red clay and sand. Due to the EXTREMELY high-elevation vineyards (amongst the clouds) and the incorporation of white grape Listán Blanco, there’s a natural lift and freshness to accompany the warm spice found in Canary wines. Enjoy slightly chilled alongside a picnic basket filled with meats and cheeses! 

Finca Parera 'Fins Als Kullons' Penedès, SP 2018 $34.99

Two white grapes (Garnacha Blanca, Xarel-lo) and a red (Sumoll) make up this 1-liter bottle of JUICE! Imagine notes of tart cherries, red currants and hibiscus along a fresh and floral palate…one sip will make you say Ahhhhh. Day Wines ‘Vin de Days Rouge' Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA 2018 $25.99

Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier (reds) and Pinot Gris (white) make up this dark-fruited wine from one of our favorite producers in Oregon. When you’re in the mood for the elegance of Pinot Noir, but crave the approachability of a chilled, juicy red. Energetic and exotic with notes of black cherry, crushed blackberry and a mineral, salty finish – prep your grill for burgers and steaks, or drink with spicy Asian takeout. 

Methode Sauvage ‘Bloom Phase’ California, USA 2018 $28.99

A whopping 70% Pinot Gris, plus Syrah and Grenache make up this zesty, peppery Californian blend. Inspired by the herbal, spice-filled wines of the Northern Rhône but with much less structural intensity. This is a wine meant for any occasion. We’re thinking beach chair/couch and a bowl of popcorn. 

Folias de Baco ‘Uivo Renegado’ Douro, PT 2018 $24.99

This is a Portuguese field blend of over 25 traditional varieties – 60% white and 40% red grapes from vines over 80 years-old! The magenta-colored liquid shines from the glass, its aromas of cherry, strawberry and watermelon scream summertime. The tingly blood-orange finish ties it all together to form the perfect crush-able bottle.
