MONARCH'S ANNUAL HOLIDAY TOP 10
Happy Holidays! The Countdown is on!

Each day from December 13th-23rd, I will share one wine that is sure to shine bright this holiday season. CHEERS!
DAY 2: CHENIN BLANC
It's Day 2, but this white grape is Number One in our hearts. No one is making finer examples of Chenin Blanc than the Loire Valley's Thibaud Boudignon

What drives us to love this grape and Thibaud's wines so much? It's Chenin's ability to do this magical balancing act of producing concentrated, flavorful wines while retaining striking acidity. When made well, these are some of the most tense and balanced wines on earth.

Thibaud is undoubtably one of the most exciting, young winemakers in the Loire, the speed at which he has garnered so much praise speaks to the remarkable quality of his wines. Originally from Bordeaux, Thibaud refined his craft while working for Burgundy's historic Domaine Charlopin. In 2009, he landed in the Loire and eventually started making wine under his own name from a tiny 3.5 hectares of Chenin Blanc.

I love this wine in every vintage, but this vintage is the greatest one yet. The 2018 Anjou Blanc wine is easily one of the greatest white wines we've had this year.

Anjou Blanc 2018

Biodynamic, hand-harvested Chenin Blanc from a mere 1.5 hectares. Fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and oak barrels.

An effusive nose of wildflowers, white peach, Anjou pear, baking spice and lemon citrus. The palate is generous yet balanced by incredible minerality, cleansing acidity, and a hint of reduction. This is world-class white wine at any level.
I will highlight one special wine each day for the next 9 days. These are wines that stood out among the thousands of wines we tasted this year. These are the wines we kept coming back to, wines that intrigued and satisfied like no others.

Some are regular stock, some are rare and hard to find, but one thing is certain, they are sure to fill you with joy this Holiday Season
