MONARCH'S ANNUAL HOLIDAY TOP 10
Happy Holidays! The Countdown is on!
Our annual holiday countdown is back! STARTING TODAY, I will highlight one special wine each day for the next 10 days. These are wines that stood out among the thousands of wines we tasted this year. The wines we kept coming back to, that intrigued and satisfied like no others.
Some are regular stock, some are rare and hard to find, but one thing is certain, theyare sure to fill you with joy this Holiday Season.
DAY 1: BURGUNDY
Burgundy seems like a logical place to start for the kick-off of our Top 10! And lets make it a Monarch Exclusive too! A red Burgundy I can't seem to keep my hands off of.
If you're familiar with Burgundy, especially red Burgundy, you'll be familiar with Domaine Robert Chevillon. This historic winery has been making some of the deepest, most profound Nuits-St-Georges for generations, perfectly capturing the darker, earthier shade of Pinot Noir for which the village is known. With brothers Bertrand and Denis Chevillon now in charge, they are the fifth generation to helm the estate, possessing an innate ability to carefully tend the vines and master the difficult Burgundian conditions.
Today's wine is a simple Bourgogne Rouge in name alone. The brothers grow and vinify it with the same care as their premier crus, and it shows.
I am proud to offer the only bottles of Domaine Chevillon, Bourgogne Rouge 2018 in South Carolina!

Bourgogne Rouge 2018
Pinot Noir from Nuits-St-Georges, grown in the rich, clay soils for which the village is known. The fruit is de-stemmed and wine is aged in 20% new oak barrels for 16 months.
Beautiful crimson color with a perfumed nose of cherry, strawberry, and currant. The palate is perfectly rustic with red and black fruits, followed by Nuits-St-George's signature mushroom and spice. A touch of black tea rounds out a long, mineral finish. I can't stop drinking this wine!
