Our featured producer this week, the Joussets, are all about connections. Connections with their land, vines and people. Their wines are a conduit between their home and yours. There is no pretension here: the wine is all about the expression of pure pleasure!
Bertrand was career military until 1998. Lise began her career in hospitality after leaving the farm she grew up on, later becoming a Sommelier. After 11 years of restaurant work, she decided to make a change with Bertrand, and the two established their own winery.
No "school molded" wines here, as Lise and Bertrand take pride in shaping their own philosophy and wine style. Having never produced wine before, they do everything through instinct and feel, taking cues from winemakers that inspire them: the Chenins from Richard Leroy and the reds of Sebastien David and Nicolas Reau. The result: wines which are liberating, singular, and full of LIFE!
'Éxilé' Rosé Pétillant 2018 $29.99 One of the best Pet-Nats we have ever tasted! 100% Gamay exudes blood orange, raspberry, and herbs. Incredibly fresh and juicy, yet brisk and bone dry. Just the right combination in our humble eyes. But you don't have to take our word for it as it wasJon Bonne's Top Five Pet-Nat's of 2019.
'Éxilé' Blanc 2018 $29.99 An unorthodox blend of 50% Chenin Blanc, 25% Colombard and 25% Ugni Blanc. Ripe peach and pear burst over your palate, mellowed by supple texture, finishing with textbook Chenin acidity. A bottle that boldly walks the tightrope between concentration of flavor and mouthwatering freshness. Nothing like it!
