Two bottles are better than one.

Ever finish a bottle of wine and think to yourself, "Well that went too fast!"? If so, this newsletter's for you!

And chances are you've stepped into Monarch in need of multiple bottles, whether you were headed to a summer BBQ or simply stocking the fridge in preparation for a relaxing weekend at home.

Enter: MAGNUMS! You may see these seemingly MASSIVE bottles as a celebratory accessory, but we argue that these 1.5-liter stunners do much more than impress your friends during special occasions! They allow you to enjoy more of something you LOVE! In this case, it's THE WINE that makes any occasion special. How can you go wrong with that?

Below is a list of fun mags we have available at the shop. Read, explore, drink...and drink some more!
Whites
Envinate 'Benje Blanco' Canary Islands, SP 2017 $71.99
This volcanic, high-toned white is a shop favorite. The single bottles went fast, but the magnums on our shelves have kept our hearts full. 100% Listan Blanco, filled with smokey notes and orchard fruits complemented by an Atlantic, high-elevation acidity that will make your mouth water. This begs for seafood.
Ciro Picariello 'Ciro 906' Campania, IT 2013 $74.99
If Envínate rules the Canary Islands, Ciro Picariello is the king of coastal Campania. 'Ciro 906' is made with Fiano from their highest elevation parcel planted to extremely old vines. The 2013 bottling still displays youthful and tonic fruit, while a few years of aging lends approachability and subtle nuances. While this could last a decade more in the cellar, your impatience and desire to experience its vibrant, stony minerality and salinity may get the best of you.
Domaine du Pelican 'En Barbi' Jura, FR 2016 $139.99
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville has been crafting serious, pure Burgundian wine for generations. But upon blindly sampling a Chardonnay from Jura in 2007, Guillaume d'Angerville was suddenly inspired to work with the grape outside of his home turf. This is the first vintage for 'En Barbi', and the fact that it's only bottled in magnums makes it that much more special. Grown on Jurassic soils rich in limestone, white as snow, this displays minerality, depth and length like no other.
Rosés
Domaine Mosse 'Moussamoussettes' Pet-Nat, Loire, FR 2018 $74.99
Don't be fooled by this bottle's fun and carefree aura. It tastes of ripe red berries and watermelon, while simultaneously exuding elegance and power, not found in any other pet-nat we've tasted. A blend of Gamay and Grolleau, farmed biodynamically. A pure, pink delight sure to light up any room. Rejuvenate and remember to thank yourself for buying this in magnum format.
Christian Tschida 'Himmel auf Erden' Rosé Burgenland, AUS 2017 $74.99
As fourth generation care-taker, Christian has the magic touch so rarely seen in natural wine these days. He manages to raise wines that are juicy, fresh, and utterly chug-able, while never losing their sense of place. Chug-able terroir! His Cabernet Franc rosé is filled with notes of wild raspberries, watermelon, red currants, nectarines and herbs – a game-changing rosé to say the least.
Château Peyrassol 'Cuvée de la Commanderie' Provence, FR 2018 $64.99
A Provencal classic, the birthplace of rosé. This wine is PACKED with flavor, concentration and energy, while still displaying the blush-pink tint so many love. Equal parts Grenache and Cinsault, with a sprinking of Syrah and Rolle (Vermentino). Ripe red berries are a prominent flavor, while the palate is lifted, poised and fresh beyond belief. When you can't visit Provence, simply drink it!
Reds
Christian Tschida 'TNT' Burgenland, AUS 2017 $107.99
Can you tell we have a major crush on Christian Tschida? ‘TNT’ is 100% Blaufrankisch, a peppery, vibrant, brambly grape native to Austria. The grapes are crushed by foot, fermented with native yeasts and aged for one year in large barrels. Dark fruits coupled with and earthy, peppery backbone. No fining, filtering or sulphur additions – as clean and naturally delicious as you can get. One of the greatest reds we have drank this year! Bottled in magnums ONLY.
Bainbridge and Cathcart 'Cuvée 50:50' Loire, FR 2018 $64.99
50% Cabernet Franc, 50% Grolleau! This light-bodied red is simply scrumptious, reflecting the hands-off mentality of Tony and Julie Bainbridge. Pure and transparent, it aims to please during any and all occasions. A perfect summer BBQ red. Simply chill and chug.
Olivier Cousin 'Pur Breton' Loire, FR 2017 $64.99
A true renaissance man, Olivier Cousin plows all of his vineyards with his righthand-horse, Joker. His wines celebrate the harmony that exists between man and nature, and 'Pur Breton' is no exception. Cabernet Franc grapes grown on deep beds of limestone, fermented naturally and aged in neutral oak barrels. The resulting wine is invigorating, filled with crushed raspberries, black pepper and juicy cherries. With its explosive flavor and energy, it's a perfect march for Asian cuisine.
