La Grapperie 'Le Buelloise' Pet-Nat, Loire Valley, FR 2017 $35.99
The grapes for this zesty sparkler are grown in the forgotten region of Coteaux-du-Loir, where Renaud Guettier is making astonishing wines from hidden, old parcels planted on clay, flint and limestone. 'Le Buelloise’ is a blend of Chenin and Pineau d’Aunis from vines up to 100 years old. The wine spends 15 months on the lees, lending a comforting roundness to complement its persistent acidity and energy. We got the ONLY CASE in South Carolina!
Vignereuse 'Mayga Watt' Rosé Pet-Nat, Gaillac, FR 2018 $32.99
With Loire Valley’s seemingly endless amount of pet-nats, we’re thrilled to offer a natural sparkler from down South. Marine Leys of Vignereuse is a badass: a diving instructor and underwater photographer turned winemaker, who’s been crafting insanely delicious juice since her first vintage in 2014. ‘Mayga Watt’ is naturally adorned in a bright pink label with a glistening green crown cap – a real head-turner! 100% Gamay pet-nat features ripe plummy and strawberry flavors adorned with a salty minerality. Leys calls it her “adult grenadine” – intriguing, huh?
Strohmeier, NV Sparkling 'Rosé Sekt' Styria, AUS $39.99
Franz Strohmeier makes wine like no other. His estate is in the mountainous of Styria in southern Austria. He is constantly tinkering with his 8-hectares to find better and more natural methods to express his terroir. His philosophical vision and biodynamic farming make for wines that are vibrant, alive and filled with finesse and stability. His ‘Rosé Sekt’ is a Champagne-method sparkling wine composed of the native varietal Blauer Wildbacher. It sports a deep orange, coppery color with flavors of orange rind, pineapple and crushed berries. Adventurous, delicious.
Lamoresca Rosato, Sicily, IT 2018 $38.99
Picture yourself in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by vines planted on rolling hills. You’re standing at over 430 meters above sea level, and your only reference point is the peak of Mt. Etna. You’re at the Lamoresca estate, located in San Michele di Ganzaria, where Filippo Rizzo is crafting organic and pure wines reflective of native Sicilian varietals. Dream up your perfect pink wine and you’ll likely land at his electric-pink rosato, comprised of Frappato and Nero d’Avola. It tastes of pomegranate and blueberry with a spritz of grapefruit…summer in a glass.
Le Bout du Monde 'Tam Tam' Roussillon, FR 2017 $27.99
Edouard Lafitte’s estate is named ‘Le Bout du Monde,’ meaning ‘the end of the world.’ He's located in a tiny village in the southern French region of Roussillon, where the Pyrenees Mountains and the Mediterranean Ocean are the sole points of reference (we wouldn’t entirely mind making wine here, either!). The remote location of his vines along with his consistent implementation of carbonic maceration lead to lively, easy-drinking reds. Happy wines for happy people! ‘Tam Tam’ is made from 100% Syrah grown on schist soils. Notes of black pepper and a rich minerality support the juicy red raspberry and strawberry. You’ve never had anything like this one!
