MONARCH'S HOLIDAY TOP 10

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! The countdown is on!

Day Three's origin may come as no surprise, as I've professed my admiration and passion for this region countless times. Burgundy touches me in a way few wines do so it is on On Day Three that I present to you my white wine of the year. I've had the pleasure of tasting dozens of great wines this year, but none better than this.

Each day from December 13th-23rd, we will present to you one wine that will shine brightly this holiday season. CHEERS!
DAY 3: PYCM, Chassagne Montrachet 'Les Ancengnières'
Few winemakers have ascended to stardom more quickly than Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. In the matter of a decade (a split second in Burgundian time), Pierre-Yves' wines have become some of the most sought-after, collectible and allocated in the world. Some call him the 'Magician of White Burgundy.'

What is the 'magic' behind Colin-Morey?

Superior terroir? He sources fruit from outstanding sites in St. Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, even the Grand Crus Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Corton-Charlemagne.

Meticulous farming? Only he decides when to pick, even for vineyards he doesn’t own or farm.

Attention to detail in the cellar? All his wines are pressed at higher-than-normal pressure, raised in 350L barrels (slightly larger than normal), and are never subject to lees-stirring, fining, or filtering.

So what is the the answer? All of the above, and more. If you love wines of place, there are few better.
PYCM, Chassagne Montrachet 'Les Ancengières' 2017

This Chassagne Montrachet is sourced from the oldest vines of the domaine in the vineyard of 'Les Ancengnières', planted in 1903. Superbly located beside the Grand Cru of Bâtard-Montrachet.

Pure and transparent. The deft use of oak and rich texture, effortlessly transform this wine into snappy, bright lemon fruit and tensile, wiry minerality. Energetic and beautifully expressive on the palate, this wine is precise and utterly gorgeous.
