Each day from December 14th-24th, we will present to you one wine that will shine brightly this holiday season. CHEERS!
DAY 5: BEAUJOLAIS EST ARRIVÉ!
As Yann says “It’s a great day for Gamay!” Yann Bertrand never thought he would become a winegrower like his father, but after college he began working in wineshops and bars to make ends meet. Surrounding himself with passionate wine pros, he started tasting and seeing wine in a whole new light. He eventually decided that the metier of a winemaker would be interesting to him if he pursued it with the same passion as those he newly encountered. Now, at a mere 25-years-old, he is the young Beaujolais producer to keep an eye on. Crafting elegant wines that are serious, yet ultimately so fun to drink!
The 60-year-old vines for “Vieilles Vignes” are planted on the iron-rich pink granite of Fleurie, a cru village in Beaujolais famous for its elegance and grace. This lush, cherry-filled Gamay is a result of rigorous organic farming, careful carbonic fermentation with native yeasts and NO added sulfur. Racked and bottled by gravity. Fresh, pure and full of energy...just like Yann!
