Dominique Lafon is not one to rest on his laurels. His day job is making wine for his family's estate in Meursault at Domaine des Comtes Lafon. The Domaine ranks amongst Burgundy's elite, producing wines that will age for decades.
The easy route would be to simply keep that ship a-float. But Dominique is curious, restless and always looking for new challenges; always searching for ways to transmit the terroir of his home. So in 2008 he started a new, eponymous estate as a way to explore new plots and techniques.
This 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves is the epitome of Dominique's passion, knowledge and desire. For Dominique, Les Grèves is the best vineyard in Beaune due to its sun-soaked, Southern exposure, ensuring perfect ripeness.
A wonderful combination of elegance and richness, there is an initial concentration of dense berry fruit which segues into velvety tannins and a crisp, palate-cleansing finish. A very sensual and seductive expression of red Burgundy.
I’m proud to offer the only bottles of 2017 Dominique Lafon, Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves in South Carolina!
