2019 Garage Wine Co '215 BC' País
A crush-able, dynamic and historic wine
I simply can't stop drinking this wine! Fresh, light, full of verve and a price tag that defies its quality. A perfect wine for the warmer days and cooler evenings that make Spring here in Charleston so perfect.

A Chilean red, great with a chill, that packs a ton of red berry and spice into a vibrant and eminently drinkable frame. This has quickly become my go-to red for the season.

País was a grape brought to the New World in the 1600's by Spanish missionaries to be used as sacrament wine, a varietal which
represents not only Chile's history but also its future. I encourage you to grab a couple of bottles because this heavenly red won't sit in your glass long!

Garage Wine Co. was actually started in a garage in 2001 by Derek Mossman and wife Pilar Miranda. Ever since, the dynamic couple have dedicated their life's work to resurrecting old vineyards, working with farmers in the Maule and Itata regions. Quickly rising from making a few barrels for friends and families to internationally recognized and coveted bottles.

Their Single Ferment Series was founded on the premise of reviving historic, native varieties, hence the name '215 BC', an hommage to País, which was being cultivated here some 215 years before Cabernet Sauvignon.
100% País (also known as Mission or Pipeño), fermented with native yeasts then hand pressed with no added sulfites. The wine then spends two winters aging in neutral oak barrels before being bottled (in recycled glass) un-fined and unfiltered.

The vibrant, light, cherry-red color is worth the price alone! Aromas of rose and wild mountain berries and mace. The palate is light-bodied and zippy with crunchy fruits and fine tannins. An absolute joy to drink!
